PRESS RELEASE:
Whittaker Homes Releases The Last Of The Lakefront Lots In New Town’s Phase II

ST. CHARLES, MO – Hard on the heels of the enthusiastic response to the Tarn Street Lakefront Homes that sold out during the spring selling season, Whittaker Homes has decided to make available the remaining number of lakefront lots in New Town’s Phase II Island District. The Granger’s Landing Lakefront Homes will be situated on some of the finest lots in New Town with sweeping vistas that encompass the Theatre District from the New Town Chapel, to the Organic Farm and all points in between. The lucky buyers of these limited lots will also have a commanding west facing view of every majestic New Town sunset as it sinks low across the water. “These lots sit on New Town’s biggest lake and run all the way up to the waterfront creating an uninterrupted view for the homeowner,” said Whittaker Homes President, Greg Whittaker. “Imagine sipping your morning coffee from the privacy of your double porch or pocket deck while the ducks and geese swim lazily by.” “So many people are attracted to New Town because of the many lakes and canals and these lots present a chance to, in effect, own a part of that shoreline,” continued Whittaker, “In fact with absolutely no fanfare or advance notice we sold 3 homes the very first weekend they were made available. That’s how attractive these lots are.” (more..)

St. Louis Commerce Magazine - By: Ruth Wood-Steed

Off and on, Greg Whittaker had thought of moving to Soulard or Lafayette Square. He liked the homes, the sense of community and the fact that you could walk to restaurants, stores and other neighborhood amenities. These St. Louis urban areas reminded him of the many vacations he and his wife had taken to Seaside, Fla., a planned "new urbanism" resort community where he parked the car, never re-entering it until it was time to leave. All the amenities and events they needed were right there within walking distance, reflecting the “new urbanist” movement—one that brings back the small town environment. He had grown up in St. Charles County, though, and really preferred to remain there. (more..)

"A lot of new urbanism is built, but it doesn't necessarily sell better than the competition [in a booming home market] because everything sells anyway." (more..)
